oh the fear

“Be not afraid”

Wait.

What?

Seriously?

“Be not afraid”

Fear just is.

FEAR engulfs,

FEAR surrounds,

FEAR takes over.

FEAR comes in the middle of the night.

FEAR steals my sleep,

FEAR robs my joy,

FEAR lies just beneath the surface all day.

“Be not afraid”

But Lord,

Give it up?

Afraid of the future,

Afraid of the past,

Afraid of all the daily hard things.

Afraid to put one foot in front of the other.

Afraid to do the next right thing.

“Be not afraid”

“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
